KindleをPCのUSBポートにつなげるとKindleの画面に
If you want to read or shop on your Kindle while continuing to charge over USB, please keep the USB cable attached, but eject your Kindle from your computer.
と表示されるので、タスクバーの「ハードウェアを安全に取り外してメディアを取り出す」をクリックして、「Amazon Kindleの取り出し」を選ぶと「安全に取り外すことが出来ます」というポップアップが表示されるものの、Kindleの画面には変化なし。Windows7にて。
買ったときからおかしいなと思っていたのだけど、そもそも充電の必要が無かったのでケーブルを抜いて使っていた。購入時、バッテリーは半分以上充電された状態だったので。
今日ようやく最初のローバッテリー警告が出たので充電。そして、そのときにちょうど読みたいものがあったので、困った次第。
頭の"if you want to read or shop on your kindle"くらいで検索したら出てきたのが以下。
When you Kindle is plugged in to the USB, go to the START button.
Click on the "Computer" link on the right hand side of the Start Menu.
You should now see your Kindle listed on that page.
Left click on the Kindle to bring up the drop-down menu.

え、それって何か違うの？ と思いつつもやってみたら、Kindleの画面がHOMEに。えー！？
デバイスの取り外しではなく、CD等のディスクの取り外しと同じ手順じゃないとダメと言うことなのだろうか。うーむ。
